I'm Some Difficulty Removing a Door Panel From a 1985 Thunderbird

Asked by HelloMars Jul 15, 2015 at 11:51 PM about the 1985 Ford Thunderbird

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I removed all the screws except for one that is inside the armrest. I can see it where the
handle for the latch is coming from. I don't know how to detach the armrest to access the
screw. It feels like something is holding it in place.

Does it slide rather than pull up? does the panel lift up rather than pry off The inner door metal ? that attaching spot by the armrest is very important to the panel staying connected properly when it gets reinstalled, you may have to fabriate to complete the reinstall of the panel, dont get frustrated walk away and come back later. Ford donates service manuals to the public library sometimes. That panel can be expensive. try pushing the armrest or changing your tool arrangement for access. they have never let me claim bandages on a warranty order so be careful.
