well reset you odometer and divide the # of miles gone on a whole tank by how many gallons the tank

EPA charts don't go back that far but Cougar with same 460 got 8-10 city and 13-14 highway

It may be helpful for others but a 390 motor can get 24 in UK gallons thats about 21 US, trying hard on the motorways in France at 45 mph I got 27 UK MPG ( 23 US)

my dad had a big 4 door ford company car with a 46o. was like a 76 or 77 but you could literally see the gas guage go down when he stood on it
