All vehicles built since the mid 1970's have electronic ignition. All vehicles built since the mid 1980's are computer operated. Your '89 Ford has one coil and an electronic distributor with an electronic module. The newer vehicles since the mid 2000's have multiple coil packs and no sparkplugs but all are electronic. .MrBlueOval.
