1980 f150 starter continues to run after truck cran ks up

It could also be that the bendix is keeping the gear extended when it should be retracting. It could be that the starter isn't aligned with the flywheel. So, it could be an electrical or mechanical problem. -- Does it happen every time?

Where's the bendex spring located ... My ignition was stiff when starting . Then started should not stop had to disconnect battery to stop it
