unless you can tear down a tranny,and puy it back together,i would take it to a good trans mechanic.

You might be able to get a Haynes manual which will cover basic transmission work for a Ford transmission. They offer specific books on this topic. Otherwise, if this is your first project, yes, take it to a good transmission shop.

This is not something you want to tackle on your own unless you have a lot of experience. Transmissions are complicated creatures. Manuals are easiest but still not for the novice. Get someone who has done it to help or go to a reputable garage. This advice comes from past experience.
