1987 Chevy s10 with a 2.5 iron Duke 4speed

My truck runs good in reverse but when I go to
take of in 1st it coughs and bucks until I shift it
and we can't figure out y

Have the accumulators checked, they are located inside the tranny, if they are leaking they will cause the rough shifting. they are located under the pan, right side of the rear of the tranny.
