My trans is going out and I want to replace it before I need to. What else can I pull one out of?

so a 4L60e wouldnt work because the car doesnt have the harness for the computer right?

4L60E will not work without making modifications/changes because dimensions are different, besides the fact that it needs a computer to operate it. You can get a computer control for just the trans, if you want to do the necessary work to upgrade it. If you are going to stick with the stock 305, I wouldn't recommend it. Just find a good 200R4 to put back in it. I wouldn't recommend a used one though. The good remans have a lot of improvements in them. One from someone like TCI would be almost bullet proof behind a stock or mild 305/350.

I have an 81 monte carlo and have put a 700R4 out of a corvet but it was built for racing. You can get a a 200r4 out of most A boidy cars from those years.
