performance manifolds and muffler on a 63 impala

Question type: Car Customization

I just got a 63 impala and i want to make it a cruiser, so i want to get the best gas milage possible.  ITs a 283 and i was thinking about replacing the stock manifolds for some performance ones to improve flow.  Also, what would be a good, relatively cheap muffler with a nice deep semi agresive sound that also has good flow?  any recommondations?
thanks guys

Hello, Sounds like a fun project! Here is a link to a variety of different parts: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/performance/parts.php?makeid=5&year=1963&modelid=39&categoryid= You can definitely tune this car to get better mileage while still having the fun, muscle-car side of it. I would take a look at the parts from the link above, and call them with any questions. There are a number of great sites out there through which you can buy parts and get advice. Best of luck!
