How do I remove the piston supports for the rear hatch on a 86 tercel?

How does the rear hatch support piston come off and go back on?

on the "hatch strut" at the point were it ataches there is a metal clip that need to be removed. it raps around the "strut" and clips on to the suport atached to the car. to remove it use a small to medeum size flathead screwdriver and with out bending it pry it off. the strut should almost fall off when the clips are removed.

really all you do is remove the clip and just pull it off or pry of with a screw driver,5 min job.
