Electronic Dashboard problems?

Asked by RVette Jul 10, 2010 at 11:02 PM about the 1985 Chevrolet Corvette

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What generally causes the electronic dashboard to shut down and come back at sporadic intervals?  Would it be a "dead short" or a flaw with a circuit board, and is it expensive to resolve the issue?  Thanks!

my first guess would be a loose connection supplying electrical power or the component/s that supplies power could also be going bad. If a loose connection is easily found and you or you know someone confident enough to repair the connection, that would then be worth a try. Other I suggest trying to find a Corvette place nearby and get opinions. The only place I know that would be able to deal with repairs is Eckler's Corvette, http://www.ecklers.com , while looking at their online catalog for C4 models on page 25, it estimated $389.99 without replacing LCDs, which the estimated cost does not include shipping, tax.
