Question type: Maintenance & Repair

what does it mean when the O/D off light starts flashing? one flash every 5 sec. or so. at this same time the car seems to run at around 500rpm higher, and wont shift all the way to first when you come to complete stop.

I have 1993 LC and according to the Haynes manual it means a transmission fault code is registered. I have been having it off and on for a week or so and even the transmission stopped shifting automatically (only worked in manual mode) till I cleaned all the contacts on the possible triggers of the codes. Thankfully, the transmission works now and no blinking since yesterday.
