Temperature and a blown head gasket

Recently my car temperature  will not rise
off of cold unless I sit idling for A half an
hour and will finally go back up to wear
should be in the halfway point but as soon
as I Drive or turn on my heater it just goes
back down to cold the heater still blows hot
air I'm nervous it my boyfriend for Runner
did this before his head gasket blew please
let me know what I should do to fix this

Sounds like you may need a new thermostat or the temp gauge sending unit is malfunctioning. If it is a bad thermostat usually the heat coming out of the blower will be affected also and not heat up, like before, till the engine reaches operating temp.
