Asked by cweidner5 Jun 28, 2023 at 04:27 PM about the 1991 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 80 amp alt fuse keeps blowing. Tested alternator and replaced battery,
thinking it might be in the wiring, just not sure which one and why it is doing this

If the fuse blows with the alternator electrically disconnected then you have a direct short in the charge wiring, you need to trace it down to find the short. If the fuse doesn’t blow with the alternator disconnected then there is a short in the alternator, parts stores only test output not shorts.
