Car won't start

My car is not starting. When I turn key over
to ignite the engine nothing happens, but I
do here a faint humming noise. What could
this be car was just working fine

first thing to do is check/clean all battery cable ends..then if nothing charge or jump battery..depends on witch / what you found before next step...k
