I have been watching this question for days, wondering if anybody knew. Thing is, if your Corolla is an 8th generation C/CE/LE it has a ZZ series engine that has a chain driven cam, if you get back goodiee, please let me know if that is what you have--the 1.8L ZZ-1FE and we can go from there

Thanks for that, no its the 4A FE 1600cc twin cam engine. The gear is a solid one which should just slide off but a Toyota dealership according to the receipts did the cambelt etc at 101kms but got carried away with locktight and put it on the crankshaft-----only remedy was to drill the gear and tap it so I could use my puller on it, no need for that the crankshaft outer pulley has a big bolt which you can locktight--nothing can move! cheers
