Where is the speedometer cable located

Hello kurdfreak. Try as I might I can't come up with the answer on the net. Take a ride to your local library where you'll most likely find the Chilton's manual for your '97 Corolla, and that will lead you to where you want to be. As popular as the Corolla is I will be stunned if your library doesn't have one. But if not, you can probably get one at your local book store or parts place. One other potentially free source of advice is the parts counter of your local Toyota dealer. Just ask him what kind of job it is to switch out the speedo cable and what you have to do at each end. Good luck!
