If you have a habit of over filling your tank,(like forcing more gas in after the nozzle has shut off), you may damaged your charcoal canister. Or the line may be plugged like Mike suggested. Here's a short video on how to do some simple checks.................................. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7EcWwlhzBM If you damaged your canister, try removing the hose and leave it unhooked. See if it will take gas. That should stop the air from creating back pressure and shutting off the gas pump.

Have you had any luck with it? Keep us posted if you have to take it to the shop.
