Any warning lights on or flashing when the engine is running? If yes....the computers on this vehicle should be scanned for Codes. Is it possible you ran out of gas?

Look for any obvious wiring problems , fluid loss . It should at least turn over ( crank ) . Do you hear the fuel pump prime the system when you it the key ? ( WHHHIIRRRR ) Alternator may have died and the battery got low enough to shut Er' down . If you're going to so your own repairs here are certain tools you'll need .

Let's see: While driving your 23 year old Camry, the engine just began to lose power until it gradually stopped. You have electricity to the car, but the engine won't turn over, or make any sounds when you turn the key. It sounds like the engine had insufficient lubrication, overheated, and died. Now the engine is frozen, or welded, so even the starter motor can't turn it. You likely had a CEL and temperature light on the dash, but the engine dying drew your attention away form it. Hit the starter and see if you can hear the solenoid engage. If so, put a wrench on the crankshaft bolt and try to turn the engine manually. I'm guessing the engine won't turn..... Tow the car to a mechanic and have him find a used engine; installed, the cost will likely be over two grand, which is more than the car's worth. Congratulations; you may now go shopping for a replacement car. And another Camry would be a good choice..... Friendly advice from a fellow Californian.
