we have changed the spark plugs but the car still wants to die at red lights. once the light changes it hesitates then drives fine. what is wrong?

Sounds like you may a vacuum leak or excessive carbon build up in the throttle body and intake system. listen to the engine run at idle and see if can hear a hissing noise. If so, check all vacuum connections and PCV valve. A carbon induction service would also improve drivablity
