battery related

i was working on the car( i m not a mechenic). i loosened the positive
battery post, it was not removed, after that whenever i would hit or touch
the positive terminal wires the car would blink (not the head lights but
others) and would try to start by itself, same way like we turn the ignition
key on, the key was not in the ignition either. it would crank for about same
amount of time as we try on a stalled car, and then would stop. it happened
about 5-6 times. finally i disconnected the battery, and i will look at it
tommorrow morning. if any one knows what could be the problem.
