have 2005 toyota celica started using oil around 45k it has 99k mostly highway miles has not been driven hard just 75 to 80 on highway why does it use so much oil, a toyota machinic said some of them just used oil even at low miles, what can i use to slow down the burning of so much oil, there are no oil leaks,

It uses about 8 quarts between oil changes.... it does not smoke but will blow a puff of smoke every once in a while when starting up and the tail pipe is black but no oil in it...
