Car fan

Asked by Island_girl May 08, 2016 at 06:31 PM about the 2006 Toyota Corolla

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My air con needs to be on so that the engine
doesn't overheat. When I start the car I have
to hit around the fan in order to get it going
but lately while I'm driving it constantly
shuts off then I have to pull over and hit it
again to keep it going.  How
serious/expensive of a problem do I have
here?

If you are beatin on the fan itself, it is probably a bad fan. however, try just wiggling the connector next time. it could be the connector which can be replaced. if you determine it to be the fan, a new one at rockauto.com is between 51 and 90 bucks not including shipping.
