Fuel pumps usually just flat out die. If you are losing pressure, it would be a fuel pressure regulator. When is the last time you changed out your plugs? Before sinking any real money into the issue, I would buy some throttle body cleaner and spray down your throttle body. If you are mechanically inclined, I would remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning instead of just putting spray down the intake. I would also buy some MAF cleaner and spray down the contacts of your Mass Air Flow sensor as well. For the plugs and spray you may be into it for $40. If no improvement, you may want to take it to a shop and see if there are any error codes that they can read off the computer. They can also do a pressure check to see if your regulator is in fact bad. Keep us updated! Good luck!

If you feel it may be fuel related, my next step would be a new fuel filter. Other than that, I would have the cars fuel system pressure tested. If no codes are coming up, you may be replacing a lot of parts before hitting the correct one. You could try taking a water bottle with a pump top and mist down your plug wires and coils. If the engine begins to skip, you will know that you have an electrical issue. Typically in the morning the air is moist so that may be a contributing factor. Easy and inexpensive test.
