Question type: General

would the catalytic converter sensors make the truck backfire on a 1996 Chevy 1500?

I would not think so but if it is running too rich I suppose that could be the problem. Backfires can be from an exhaust leak or the timing being way off.

Timing set is tricky on Vortec GOT to have a good Mach. ( Mack gen. 2 ) to get it right but when you do very good engine.
