theres a product we used at the ford dealership called topper its a die it comes in different colors for vynal and convertable tops its also good for changing colors of interiors or tops i have used it alot it works great comes with a sponge look for topper at carquest its a dye not a paint clean thourly with mineral spirits for best results or a rag with some paint thinner on it after you wash it reallly goodtape off the car incase of spillage

Just to be safe, I would repaint the whole car. Most places will do it for just under $1,000. But if you know someone who paints cars, you might want to check with them for a deal. If that's too expensive, I would do what koolautos suggested.

no need to repaint the car for a fadded rag top.it has nothing to do with the paint.it would be a waste of money.just recondition the top like the other poster suggested.

you cant sand or paint a convertable top,she said she wants to get the top nice and black again. it needs to be reconditioned not painted.

It's probably your clear coat .get some really fine sand paper and wet sand it.make sure you keep it wet or it will scratch.then wax it. Or rubbing compound

I used some leather dye on the strip under the rear window just in case it doesn't work. So far so good.I am going to try black shoe/boot polish for leather. I'll let ya know how it works
