Truck won't stay running

Asked by BelindaCapps May 03, 2013 at 06:10 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet S-10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2000 chevy s10 2.2L that we have
changed the fuel pump in 2 times and each
time it runs great and after driving it about
25 miles it just dies. We banged on gas tank
and it will start. Also at times when you try
to start it it cranks for a while before it will
start.

Hope this helps...i had a 2001 silverado doing the same thing..it usually took a bit... but it would start acting and running very ruff then die. Would not start again until it cooled off several hrs if not all night. Would start right up like a champ...until it did it again..finally it wouldn't start at all...turned out Firestone stated that it needed 2-3 sensors replaced...they got it running good enough for me to trade it in...

I've found several gm models where the connector contact pin for the 12 volts to the pump has overheated and corroded. Separate the four pin connector and look for a burnt pin. Hope this hel[ps. Dan
