Nope. They break, and you can buy new ones at Advance Auto parts for around $20 each.

they issued a "special bulletin" about them for certain '00-'03 S10's. If they do break the dealership should replace them for free. They did on my '02. http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f33/06020-special-policy-adjustment-s10-sonoma-tailgate-cables-35488/?t-35488.html= I guess you have a crew cab, seeing as thats all they made in '04 besides the blazers.
