How to fix loss of RPMs

2000 Honda CRV the car will drop
RPM gauge to zero while driving
at which time then you have no
get up and go,no pep,barely
enough to keep going 20mph, but
not hard to start and it doesn't die
completely.  Where do I begin
looking at under hood for my
problem?

Scan for codes even if the light ain't on , The clerk at the auto parts store is not a technician , they sell parts . A multi meter is useful for testing proper voltages at the battery
