Is it safe to drive with a failed a/c compressor unit ?

Asked by Anjum Oct 03, 2015 at 10:30 AM about the 2007 Honda CR-V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I hear grinding noise from off side front of engine when starting up and
while driving at slow speed. The noise fades away at higher speeds. For
the past month or so, I had even noticed that the a/c wasn't blowing any
cold air at all. I feel the problem is the with the a/c compressor unit. If that is
the case, am I safe to drive the car to the garage which is 15 miles away
from where it is stationed now ? I hope my problem is clearer now, and
someone would be able to advise !
