Why is my car overheating after I've changed the thermostat?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car overheats only when standing in traffic, but
after I put the heater fan on the temp drops to
normal, I've checked and saw when the heatgauge
rises above normal the fan doesn't come on
,unplugged the fan to put power on it and it works
fine, swopped out fan relay with a/c relay and it
works fine, what else can I check?
Honda accord 2007 model cl9

Did you install the thermostat backwards? Try purging air out of the cooling system.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply and thanks for all your answers. No it's not fix it yet I've recently done a check where I put the inside heater as well as the ac on, and while everything was on I then took out all the relays and switched it around and all the fans went on, so I'm really not sure if I must replace the thermostat and the water pump?
