07 malibu fuel gage going crazy/car sluggish

Does anybody have any suggestions on what to do when the fuel gage will just drop to empty even if the tank is full? I checked on getting the fuel gage sensor replaced, chevy quoted 525$, I'm hoping to find something cheaper or simpler.

you could just have a bad gage or the sending unit in the tank is going bad.for the sluggish you may want to replace the fuel filter.

Do you know of any website that would tell me step by step how to replace the fuel sensor inside the tank?

I had the same issue recently. The entire fuel pump had to be replaced. This seems to be a frequent issue with GM.
