what does low oil pressure mean and will it cause truck not to start

Low oil pressure means that for some reason, oil is not being forced into all areas of the engine in the quantities that the engine requires to offset component wear and damage to the engines' internal parts. It could be that the oil level is too low or that the oil pump is not functioning properly to lubricate the engine internals - or that the oil pressure sensor is just faulty.. Low engine oil pressure in itself should not keep the engine from firing and starting - if very low pressure, it would clank and knock when running, signaling that engine damage is occurring before your very eyes and ears.. If the engine has no oil at all and has seized up, the engine starter would not have the power to turn the engine over to try to start. If the engine still turns over, then it likely is something other than low oil pressure that is keeping it from starting.

On 03 Expedition Eddie Baeur some have a cut off when oil pressure is low. The light is not how you check it. Use the dipstick under the hood, if low fill. Use a funnel because if you spill any at all it will go into the well of the number four piston spark plug and cause a misfire problem. I have never noticed one doing this while going down the road. It usually happens after you park it with low oil, it will not restart. Meant to protect the engine from abuse from people who solely depend on dummy lights.

I parked my 03 expedition on Sunday and did not start it until Thursday, it was extremely cold, it started without any problem however the engine stopped after a little while and low oil pressure popped up. I went and buy 4 quarts, I put three in it and still the car does not want to start.

So how do you get it to start?

i had the same problem with my 03 experdition ,it cut off on me after i got off the highway .they only way to fix this problem is to replace the fusebox.this happen on the 03 and 04.
