Sport Trac running hard/smell exhaust/gas

Asked by Denise Jan 06, 2018 at 01:18 PM about the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

HI.  I have a 2007 Sport Trac V8.  After the recent cold snap in Florida, the
truck is running hard. The engine light is on and there is an exhaust/gas smell.
Where should I look first? Not a lot of great options for repair as I'm in a rural
area. Would rather try options before taking to shop. Thanks.

after diving for awhile look underneath and see it you notice any of the exhaust that turned red like red hot. maybe a catalytic converter that clogged.
