Ford Escape Air Inlet panel removal

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Got a water leak under the drivers seat carpeting.
I want to remove the AIP but the push pins at the windshield have got me
stumped.  I am using a plastic trim stick and a metal 'christmas tree' puller
tool and I am concerned about applying too much pressure where I could
crack the windshield and I really don't want that  . . .
Not familiar with the fasteners Ford uses . . .  HELP

I used a small screw driver and I found out that they are really covers (or caps) over the 8 Phillips screws that hold the two parts of the AIP. Once the caps were removed, they screws were fairly easy to remove. (at least the ones that were not too rusted) Problem solved, but not the water leak. Still not solved.
