I had a new windshield installed in my 07 Ford Ranger and now my radio only works in park and neutral. Is it a short?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I listened to the radio on my way to get my windshield replaced and then after my radio and cd player only have speakers when the truck is in park or neutral. The radio still shows the station and if the cd is on track whatever but I have no sound until the vehicle is in park or neutral. How is this possible?

Turns out that when your windshield is installed they use a spray bottle of water to clean the rubber and if they are not careful the water can get into your dash and get electronics wet. My radio got some water in it and needed to dry out in order to work. In 30 years of installing windshields the owner had not seen this but he did recognize what it was.
