My steering wheel shakes and is very hard to steer when I am driving.

Obviously this is a major safety issue, and needs to get to a shop asap and fixed before being driven anywhere. It can be a tie rod about to break. Usually 'shaking' and vibrations are caused by rotating parts (wheel bearings, rotors, etc.) but 'hard to steer' can be from the rack, steering linkages, bad power steering pump, etc., and you may have more than one thing going on. Don't put it off either, get it in now.

Check the power steering fluid and look for a leak. Also I agree with KenF, get it checked out immediately.
