how do I identify transplanted 5.0 in a 4 cyl body

Question type: General

I bought a 88 mustang that originally had a 4 cyl.  It now has a 5.0.  Where do I find ID numbers to ID the motor?

Hello, There should be a serial number right on the motor. The location of these numbers would depend on the year of the motor. Do you have any idea when it was from? CarGrrl

Hello, This engine fit Mustangs from 1986-1992. However, I have not been able to find much information at all on how to find the number. You could try calling a Ford dealer or an auto parts location and seeing if they know a little better. By the way, this link does not mention where to find the ID numbers, but there is some good information about what I believe is your engine or similar: http://members.tripod.com/torquespecs/mustang_capri_1979-93_v8.htm Best of luck! Sorry I couldn't help more with this one. CarGrrl
