Identifying 1972 mustang engine part

Asked by Dfbtcff Apr 27, 2019 at 10:52 AM about the 1972 Ford Mustang

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi
I'm sure this is a simple question but I can't figure it out. I'm trying to work out
what fluid should go into the circled part of my mustang.
It's a 1972 mustang boss 521 engine Cleveland
Seems to maybe lead to the water pump...
Had a oil of some type in it
thanks!

That would be the power steering pump. Power steering fluid goes in there.

Thanks guys. And thanks F_O_R for the engine update lol. Yeah I was lazy and just posted an identical photo of the part to mine. Forgot to remove that line about the engine and couldn’t see how to edit my post after posting.
