I need to update my prior question.Where on my 69 camaro do I look to find the code for identifiing if it came from the factory with a big block?A mechanic that worked on it said it is an SS that originally came with a 396,I want to verify.

According to this page: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/chevy-camaro-VIN-decode-first-gen.asp, you can't tell anything about the original engine from a '69 Camaro's VIN. Check the Frequently Asked Questions page at that site for info on figuring out whether yours is an SS. Good luck!
