my 69 chevelle makes a loud clunking sound when pulling off but only when you turn and it shakes the car, it sounds like its coming from the axle

Sounds like the Positraction needs lube. If it is quite when you drive straight, but makes the noise and feels like it is grabbing and releasing when you turn, then it is the differential.

ALWAYS LOOK AT THE SIMPLEST, STUPIDEST THING FIRST, THAT'S USUALLY IT. I AGREE WITH BRAB & RUCKO IN THIS CASE CHECK YOUR GREASE{GEAR OIL} LEVEL.

YOU WILL WANT TO PUMP GREASE IN THE DIFFERENTIAL. AND IF THEY MAKE IT FOR GEARS, HIGH TEMP. LIKE BEARING GREASE.
