Subaru B4 model question

Asked by Guru3WRBL Jul 24, 2020 at 08:07 AM about the 2001 Subaru Legacy

Question type: General

Stupid question but what does Rev A B C or
D mean For the Subaru B4’s? And what does
that mean for my type of turbo
Also what is the recommended oil to put in?
I’ve heard many different answers and would
like to know. I’m thinking 10w40 fully syn as I
live in Australia and it doesn’t to freezing
conditions

Mine is a 2001

Revisions A to D are different Legacy versions. Look up your car on Wiki.

48,040

10w40 synth is a good viscosity spec for you. If it gets REALLY hot your you have any seepage switch to 20w50. 5w30 is probably your spec, but with turbos I really like the 40w protection for its bearings.
