new radiator, thermostat new heating up w/high RPMs,

Asked by mikemajoave Nov 19, 2016 at 03:59 PM about the 2002 Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've replaced radiator and thermostat after hitting a deer. Slowly added coolant
and bubbled but still over heats. I can go 10 minutes then have to pull over n
cool down. Do i need to burp more? No water in oil.

Can't hurt to burp it but check to make sure your cooling fans still work.

Full of regrets, thanks. The fans are working, I'm still burping. Might try one of those fancy funnels as the radiator barfs up coolant. I don't know what else to do. No Suby dealership nearby.

Maybe your head gaskets are gone and you are getting compression into the cooling system. How many miles on the head gaskets?

just had them replaced, maybe 5000 miles ago. I hope it's not but it's really looking that way...im still burping

If you are getting a lot of air in the system then I would be suspicious. If the radiator bubbles continuously then it is bad news.
