the driving light is off

The "D" light is off. Other letters P, R, N, 3, 2 is working fine.
I can drive, but that "D" light is off. I just had water pump and timing belt replaced three
days ago.

It is most likely a burnt out bulb. Do some searching for replacing instrument panel / illumination bulbs for 03 - 05 forester. Those are some good "terms" to point you in the right direction. I was just checking out a youtube video to see what all is involved.. it is pretty extensive to get to the cluster. You have to take out all of the panels starting with the center console and moving up to the radio shroud and then the cluster shroud and then the cluster. Then I would just replace ALL the bulbs. But if you only have the one "D" light out, I wouldn't worry about it. Just my opinion. If you were missing an entire side, like the speedo, then yeah, I would replace them.
