Does it rev up before it shifts? If not then its not slipping its just got alot of Shift Shock. i had a 92 grand prix that probably has the same tranny yours does. it was a 4T60E and it did shift really hard. but if it does rev before its goes into the next gear then yes, it probably is slipping.

it sounds like its probably slipping, sadly most grand prixs have been known for tranny problems, i would take it too a mechanic if you dont know what to do yourself,

you may be losing vaccum. we have 95 gran prix that did that once and did all kinds of things to it flushed , new fluid , new filter, added treatment, . no luck until a friend a trans specialist took out back of his shop showed me same type trans laying ground and showed the rubber vacum lines. they dry rot and lose vacum. i replaced them problem solved.
