I have done a lot of work on my 98 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 Supercharged Engine and the engine light is still on. How do I reset it?

my pontiac grand prix 2001 check engine light came on. i checked the codes and the coils came up. i tried testing the coils myself with a small vacuum hose a a light tester to see if i was getting the right amount of spark and all of a sudden my car turns on but shuts off immediately after its been turned over. what could be my problem? please help 1 Answer
