Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My grand Prix is temp Gage reads 240 270 soon as
u get in car and drive . Don't seem like it's
overheating but it dose smell hot when u turn it off

If that is the correct temperature it is way too high. I would check the operating temperature with a non-contact digital thermometer which you can buy for around $20. If the actual temperature is a lot lower you may need a temperature new sending unit. If the car is really running that high check the coolant level but your cooling system probably needs servicing.
