Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It makes it hard to open and sometime prevents it from opening at all. No wrecks or fender benders, just started
happening. Any ideas?

Possibly sagging door hinges. See if they can be loosened and adjusted.

possibly the door pins are worn.... try picking the door up and down... if it moves the pins are bad and try replacing them

I have a 2002 Pontiac Firebird that is doing the exact same thing. The problem? It's the clip that hold the door skin in place that has broken off that allows the skin to rub against the front quarter panel section. I thought it should be an easy fix, but it's not. I just came from an auto body shop who wants $1300 to fix the problem. I am locating replacement parts/or heading out to pick n pull to see about replacing either the skin or the entire door. Tried gluing the skins - won't hold. I have no accidents either. You're not alone in this. ;-)

Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem that Melinda is talking about?? I'm having the same problem. I can't find the name of the clips or how to doc this problem. Please help!

If an auto body shop wants $1,300 to fix the sagging doors/door skins I would shop around as that seems extremely high.

The door is separating. Look closely where the door meets the fender. The glue wears out from the aluminum sheet panel to the fiberglass inside panel that holds the window motor. It will start catching on the fender and eventually will come apart more. I have 2 doing the same thing. Get some good bonding agent 2 large c-clams and towels. Make sure you have the towels so you dont scratch the door and bond them back together. Should hold about 10 years before needed to be done again. Poor design with aluminum and fiberglass
