Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I followed the upper rad hose to an empty cyl. head cavity (no thermostat there!) and saw a lower housing feature but not sure if it is for oil pressure and temperature, cam rotation sensor etc.  Where is the thermostat please?

Thanks.

On the passenger side of the motor about half way up. I also found this link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070509192809AAJRsq6 The 2nd answer seems to be better. I read that you have two Vibes. It may be worth your while to get a Chilton or Haynes manual for your car. Those manuals are excellent and will tell you ANYTHING you need to know about your car.

Does that entail that the lower hose has a housing on the block?

Thermostat is located just below the water pump. Follow the lower radiator hose to the pump. There will be two bolts; likely size 8 bolts, and another nut just below attached to the hose to pull away from pump. Hope this helps!
