we have a 2005 grand prix today it broke down in a parking lot you insert your key turn it all lights and dingers and gauges work it clicks one time and then nothing why wont it start? we suspected the starter or silenoid but they are both good.

check the battery and charging system....sounds the the battery bit the big one w/o more info.

its possible that the solenoid is bad on the starter... if you can get under the car try hitting the starter with a blunt object... i.e. a hammer or something similar.. but first i would make sure that the security light isnt flashing because that will require a tow to a reputable repair facility...

If the security light was flashing it would crank and the passkey 2 security system could be reset in the parking lot
