2005 Pontiac G6 Electrical Question

Asked by Robin Aug 02, 2015 at 07:13 PM about the 2005 Pontiac G6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a new catalytic converter installed last
week. When I picked up my car from the
shop, my key fob no longer worked. I
stopped by a dealer, and they tried a new
battery and a new key fob, neither would
work on my car. My key fob is not broken,
it's something with my car. Now I noticed
my cigarette lighter is also not working. Had
a friend check out the fuses and those
looked good. Does anyone know about the
electrical systems that can help point me in
the right direction?

Hey, First: why should a new catalytic converter break all the electrics in your car? But i guess that during the installation some electric wires might have broke or something.

My guess is that getting a new catalytic converter has nothing to do with the electronics, just finding it hard to believe that it's just a coincidence that it broke while they were working on my car. And when I questioned them on it, they were kinda @ssholes about it.

Most cars have two fuse panels. Did he check both? If he said the fuse were good but your cig light wasn't working then you have a blown fuse some where else oh and replacing the converter won't cause the electrical system not to work.

For the most part Mister Gary is right except for the 05 G6 there's three fuse panels and you have to make sure that all are in line in InTune and also make sure that your relays are all intact and in place sometimes you'll have to replace the whole fuse box with relays up underneath the hood in order for everything else to work just got done doing it
